Pickup and delivery options

Handover options depend on the location and selected service. Capital cities and larger centres may offer depot or address collection and delivery. In smaller towns, handover may be at your address, through a local agent or at an agreed meeting point with the driver. Your quote confirms the available arrangement. The enclosed-network depots listed on this page identify transport connections; they are not necessarily your pickup or delivery handover points.

Enclosed transport and connecting legs

Enclosed transport is available between capital-city depots in both directions. Townsville is also part of this enclosed depot network and is treated as a capital-city depot for quoting purposes.

For Rockhampton–Canberra, the enclosed option combines these legs in either direction:

  • Rockhampton ↔ Brisbane depot: standard carrier.
  • Brisbane depot ↔ Canberra depot: enclosed transport.

Moving Cars arranges the full journey, including the standard-carrier connections; you do not need to organise those legs separately. This is a mixed enclosed/standard service, not enclosed transport for the entire journey.

To request enclosed rates, obtain a standard vehicle quote, then reply requesting an enclosed upgrade. Confirm the depot locations, enclosed leg and any standard-carrier connections before booking. The initial standard quote does not book an enclosed service. See the enclosed enquiry guide.

Rockhampton to Canberra: coordinate delivery with your move

Enter the real Rockhampton collection location and Canberra delivery suburb. Decide who can receive the car if it arrives before you, or if your new address is not yet available for delivery. Ask about any offered depot or storage option and its charges before relying on it.

If the car is needed for the start of a new job, state that requirement when requesting a quote. Ask which dates are estimated and which, if any, are guaranteed under the offered service. Keep another travel option available where an exact arrival date cannot be confirmed.

Canberra to Rockhampton: provide the actual destination

For the reverse trip, set Canberra as collection and Rockhampton as delivery. A location outside Rockhampton should be quoted under its own suburb or town and postcode, especially where access involves a rural property or an arranged meeting point.

If collecting from Canberra accommodation, an apartment or a workplace, describe the access and contact arrangements. Check that your collection window falls before you lose access to the property, and nominate an authorised contact if you will already have left.

Keep the household move and car transport coordinated

A household removal date does not automatically set the car’s collection or delivery date. Maintain the quote reference, confirmed handover locations and contact details for the vehicle separately, and update the provider if a change affects access or availability.

Do not use the car as additional household storage unless the offered vehicle service expressly allows belongings. Ask about limits and exclusions before packing, including items in the boot or attached to the vehicle.

What to include in the quote request

Provide the make, model, year, running condition, collection and delivery postcodes and available dates. Explain low clearance, modifications, accessories and anything that could affect loading. If a seller holds the car, confirm the release date and who has authority to hand it over.

For a car that does not start or cannot be driven, explain whether it can steer and brake. Our non-running vehicle guide helps identify the details to disclose, but the provider must confirm acceptance.

Before accepting an offer

Compare the full price and terms, the proposed handover locations, pickup window and estimated transit time. Ask how changes are communicated, who to contact during transport, and what any cancellation or storage charges would be. Read the offered cover, exclusions and condition-report process rather than assuming all services have the same terms.

Questions before booking

Can another person receive the vehicle?

Ask what authorisation and identification the carrier requires, then supply the receiving contact’s details through the booking process. Confirm that they understand the handover and condition-check arrangements.

Can I book the return journey at the same time?

Request the correct dates and locations for each direction. Availability and price need confirmation for each movement.

How do I request enclosed transport?

Start with a standard quote, then reply requesting enclosed upgrade rates. Follow the enclosed enquiry guide and wait for confirmation of the upgraded service.

Request your vehicle quote, or contact Moving Cars to explain vehicle, access or timing requirements before booking.
