Pickup and delivery options
Handover options depend on the location and selected service. Capital cities and larger centres may offer depot or address collection and delivery. In smaller towns, handover may be at your address, through a local agent or at an agreed meeting point with the driver. Your quote confirms the available arrangement. The enclosed-network depots listed on this page identify transport connections; they are not necessarily your pickup or delivery handover points.
Enclosed transport and connecting legs
Enclosed transport is available between capital-city depots in both directions. Townsville is also part of this enclosed depot network and is treated as a capital-city depot for quoting purposes.
For Gold Coast–Geelong, the enclosed option combines these legs in either direction:
- Gold Coast ↔ Brisbane depot: standard carrier.
- Brisbane depot ↔ Melbourne depot: enclosed transport.
- Melbourne depot ↔ Geelong: standard carrier.
Moving Cars arranges the full journey, including the standard-carrier connections; you do not need to organise those legs separately. This is a mixed enclosed/standard service, not enclosed transport for the entire journey.
To request enclosed rates, obtain a standard vehicle quote, then reply requesting an enclosed upgrade. Confirm the depot locations, enclosed leg and any standard-carrier connections before booking. The initial standard quote does not book an enclosed service. See the enclosed enquiry guide.
Gold Coast to Geelong: describe both handover locations
Enter your Gold Coast collection suburb and the actual Geelong delivery location. If the pickup is at an apartment or managed complex, describe parking restrictions, gate access and loading space. Confirm where the driver and releasing contact will meet; do not assume the truck can enter an underground car park.
At the receiving end, distinguish a Geelong address from a property elsewhere in the region. Use its own suburb or town and postcode so the quote reflects the requested service, rather than planning onward collection after the booking is made.
Geelong to Gold Coast: coordinate the seller and receiver
For the reverse direction, select Geelong as collection and the relevant Gold Coast suburb as delivery. If buying a car remotely, agree with the seller when payment, paperwork and vehicle release will be complete before choosing a collection window.
Tell the receiving contact how delivery will be arranged and what they need to check. If you will be travelling when the car arrives, ask about authorising someone else to receive it rather than assuming unattended delivery is available.
Buying remotely: keep release and condition records clear
A transport booking does not replace your own checks on the car or purchase arrangements. Agree who will hold the keys and approve release, and ensure the contact can attend during the collection window.
Ask how the vehicle condition is recorded at collection and delivery. Retain clear photos and review the offered transport cover and exclusions. Report discrepancies through the provider’s stated process promptly; do not assume the purchase and transport have identical terms.
Door or depot: compare the complete journey
If a depot option is available, obtain its actual location and opening hours at each end. Consider how you will reach it and get home after dropping off the car. A depot’s city label alone is not enough to plan personal travel.
For address service, disclose restricted streets, low clearance, gates or limited turning space. Confirm any alternative handover location with the carrier in advance.
Dates and vehicle details
Supply the make, model, year, running condition and any modifications or accessories. Request the pickup window and estimated delivery timing separately, and explain any fixed deadline. Book personal travel with the confirmed service conditions in mind.
Before collection, follow the carrier’s instructions on fuel, keys, alarms and belongings. Do not leave household goods in the car unless expressly permitted by the offered service.
Questions before booking
Does this cover a location outside Geelong or the Gold Coast?
Request a quote using that actual location. Coverage, access and any additional cost need confirmation rather than being inferred from the nearest city.
Can a low-clearance or non-running car travel?
Describe the vehicle accurately before accepting an offer. See the non-running vehicle guide where relevant, and confirm loading suitability with the provider.
Can I choose enclosed transport?
Get a standard quote first and reply requesting enclosed upgrade rates. The enclosed enquiry guide explains this step; standard pricing does not confirm an enclosed service.
Request your vehicle quote, or contact Moving Cars to explain vehicle, access or timing requirements before booking.
