Moving a trailer after a purchase, sale or relocation? Moving Cars can assess transport options for your route and trailer. Start with the actual pickup and delivery locations, overall dimensions and condition so the available service can be checked.

All trailer quotes are prepared manually. A response can take several hours. Transport can usually be arranged within a few days, subject to the route, trailer and carrier availability. Collection and delivery timing is confirmed separately for your booking.

Request a trailer transport quote.

Use our vehicle quote form to begin your enquiry. For an unusual trailer, uncertain measurements or a detail that needs explaining, contact our team.

Details to have ready

A description such as “box trailer” or “camper trailer” does not tell us everything needed to assess transport. Have these details available when you enquire or when our team contacts you:

  • Trailer type and model: include its purpose and whether it will travel empty or with a load.
  • Overall size: length including the drawbar and rear fittings, widest point, and height including any fitted equipment or load. Give the dimensions as it will travel.
  • Weight: provide any known current weight and manufacturer’s information, explaining what the figures represent. Say if the weight is unknown rather than estimating it as fact.
  • Condition: disclose tyre, wheel, brake, coupling, jockey-wheel or structural problems, and whether it rolls freely. Mention damage, modifications and low clearance.
  • Journey: collection and delivery suburbs or postcodes, earliest release date and any required deadline.
  • Access and contacts: describe gates, turning space, steep or unsealed approaches, business hours and who will attend each handover.

Keep photos available for unusual fittings, damage or a loaded trailer. Changes to the size, contents or condition can affect the quote, so tell us before booking or collection.

What kind of trailer do you need moved?

Tell us whether it is a box, enclosed, camper, boat or another trailer type. Acceptance depends on its dimensions, condition, load and the service available for the route; a category name alone does not confirm suitability.

For a caravan, see our caravan transport guide. If machinery, a boat or other equipment will remain on the trailer, describe the complete combination and ask for it to be assessed. Do not assume that a quote for an empty trailer also covers a loaded one.

Collection, delivery and timing

Use the real addresses or postcodes rather than substituting the nearest major city. Ask which handover options are available for your particular move. Address service requires suitable carrier access; where a depot or meeting point is offered, check its location, hours and any storage conditions.

Arranging transport within a few days does not mean the trailer will be collected or delivered within that period. Discuss deadlines before accepting a quote and confirm the collection arrangements and estimated transit time separately. A quote request does not reserve a collection slot. If a seller or storage yard is releasing the trailer, arrange keys, authority and an available contact before handover.

What affects the price?

The route, size, weight, condition, access and available transport capacity influence the quote. A damaged trailer or unusual load may need different equipment or handling.

Read the quoted inclusions and ask about any potential additional charges before booking. Confirm the transport method, collection and delivery points, and applicable cover. Tracking and update arrangements vary by carrier, so ask what is available for the offered service.

Prepare for handover

Follow the booked carrier’s instructions and your trailer manufacturer’s guidance. As part of preparation:

  • Confirm whether contents or equipment can stay on the trailer and what securing arrangements are required. Do not add a load after quoting without checking.
  • Secure doors, lids, ramps and other moving parts in the appropriate transport position. Follow specific instructions for removable fittings.
  • Disclose any gas cylinders, fuel containers, batteries or other items needing special instructions before collection.
  • Clean the trailer so its condition can be inspected, and photograph existing damage.
  • Make the agreed handover location accessible and keep the release and receiving contacts available.

For a move entering WA or Tasmania, check the quarantine guidance as well as the carrier’s instructions.

Common questions

Can a damaged trailer or one that cannot roll be moved?

It needs individual assessment. Explain the fault and have photos available so the required handling can be considered. Do not assume an ordinary trailer quote covers loading a damaged or immobile trailer.

Will the trailer be towed or carried?

Confirm the transport method in the offered service. The requirements depend on the trailer and route; do not assume a particular method before the booking is confirmed.

Can you collect from a seller?

Give the seller’s location and release availability. Confirm payment or settlement arrangements with the seller independently, then ensure the nominated person has authority to release the trailer and can attend collection.
