Pickup and delivery options

Handover options depend on the location and selected service. Capital cities and larger centres may offer depot or address collection and delivery. In smaller towns, handover may be at your address, through a local agent or at an agreed meeting point with the driver. Your quote confirms the available arrangement. The enclosed-network depots listed on this page identify transport connections; they are not necessarily your pickup or delivery handover points.

Enclosed transport and connecting legs

Enclosed transport is available between capital-city depots in both directions. Townsville is also part of this enclosed depot network and is treated as a capital-city depot for quoting purposes.

For Gladstone–Darwin, the enclosed option combines these legs in either direction:

  • Gladstone ↔ Brisbane depot: standard carrier.
  • Brisbane depot ↔ Darwin depot: enclosed transport.

Moving Cars arranges the full journey, including the standard-carrier connections; you do not need to organise those legs separately. This is a mixed enclosed/standard service, not enclosed transport for the entire journey.

To request enclosed rates, obtain a standard vehicle quote, then reply requesting an enclosed upgrade. Confirm the depot locations, enclosed leg and any standard-carrier connections before booking. The initial standard quote does not book an enclosed service. See the enclosed enquiry guide.

Gladstone to Darwin

Confirm the Gladstone release location and whether a seller, employer or family member will hand over the vehicle. Give the Darwin delivery address and an available contact. A worksite or destination outside Darwin needs to be specified; do not assume it is included in a city delivery.

Darwin to Gladstone

For a vehicle returning from Darwin, disclose its current condition and fitted accessories, including racks or a canopy. Check that the Gladstone receiving location can be used and that someone can attend. If keys or authority are held by a workplace, settle the release process before arranging collection.

Make worksite access explicit

Tell us about security gates, restricted hours, induction requirements or any limit on carrier access. Ask whether the site can be served or a different handover point is needed. Agree that point through the booking team rather than directing a driver to an unconfirmed alternative. Keep an accessible contact available for changes.

Can I leave work tools in the vehicle?

Only if the selected carrier accepts them under a booked Goods in Car option. Check packing, weight and prohibited-item rules. Do not leave dangerous goods or assume a work vehicle’s usual contents are accepted.

Before collection

Have a quarter tank of fuel or a charged EV, keys and release details ready. Photograph the vehicle’s condition and follow the preparation checklist. Report starting, rolling, steering or braking problems so specialist transport can be assessed where needed.

Every available quote offers a Goods in Car option. If you want to carry belongings, select and book the option, then follow the chosen carrier’s allowance and packing rules. See the belongings guide.

Check the cost guide when comparing inclusions. Confirm collection and delivery arrangements and discuss deadlines before booking; timing estimates can change.
