Transporting Cars With Items Inside

Every available quote offers a Goods in Car option. If you want to leave belongings in your vehicle, select and book that option. A standard vehicle quote does not automatically include personal belongings.

Confirm the option before packing

Availability, weight limits and permitted items depend on the carrier, route and selected service. Follow the allowance and packing instructions for your booking; there is no single weight limit that applies to every service.

If the option is unavailable, or your belongings do not fit the quoted allowance, contact us with your quote reference before booking. We can check the available options. Do not assume an exception has been accepted until it is confirmed.

Pack for the selected service

• Pack accepted items securely in closed removalist boxes, suitcases or travel bags.
• Use only the storage areas permitted by your carrier, such as the boot or rear cargo area. Do not place items on seats or where they obstruct the driver or vehicle controls.
• Keep windows and the driver’s view clear, and stay within the confirmed weight allowance.
• Keep belongings accessible for any required inspection. Incorrectly packed or unapproved goods may need to be removed before transport.
• Remove valuables and loose items. You bear the risk of loss or damage to personal belongings and damage caused by goods moving inside the vehicle; check the applicable booking terms.

Spare tyres, jacks, fitted child seats and other vehicle equipment should be checked against the carrier’s instructions. They are not a reason to assume other belongings are included.

What not to pack

Do not pack weapons, ammunition, spare petrol or fuel containers, gas cylinders or other dangerous goods. This restriction on packed goods is separate from the fuel in the vehicle’s own tank.

Do not leave perishable food, plants or rubbish in the vehicle. A booked Goods in Car option does not override quarantine restrictions or the carrier’s prohibited-items rules.
